Simon Pengelly

Simon Pengelly - Answer our questions

Simon Pengelly started in the film world in 2009 by appearing in BBC's “Casualty”, “Merlin”, and hit vampire show, “Being Human”. Simon has also appeared in a number of short films, most of which have gone on to win awards and received critical acclaim. These credits include “Alderwood Plain”, “Defiant in death”, “Lex Tallionis”, “Intruder”, “The Hellraiser Chronicles” and the long awaited “The Antwerp Dolls”.

How did you get the part in the show?
I have been very fortunate to have worked with Paul and Simon on a few other projects in the past, and when they said they had a part they would like me to play I jumped at the chance.

What were the highlights from the shooting of the show? Things you haven’t done before etc?
The highlight from working on the show was probably working with the guys again, we had such a great crew and cast and over the year they have become my Bristol family, the atmosphere on set is always great. I love doing anything action and filming on Horizon gave me the chance to film a great fight scene, which I think we can all be proud of.

What was the hardest part of working on the show? Lots of lines, working with VFX, action stuff?
The action stuff was physically the hardest part of working on the show, but overall and as arse licking as this may sound, the hardest part was being wrapped and not being able to carry on working with everyone.

Regarding the craft of acting, what did you learn about or what might you do differently?
Ummmm I'll have to answer that when I see the final edit! I'm my own worst critic and at the time I always think that I wasn't good enough, or something I did didn't look right or sound right, WHY AM I HERE?!!!! So when I see it I'll give you a list!!!

Finally, what would you do if the events of the show really happened?!
Well I live in the countryside, have access to guns and know how to live off the land so I'd be alright for a while, until I ran out of whisky then I'd have to go to the built up areas to get some more, and trust me the aliens would NOT want to get in the way of me and whisky……
